Job Description
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Investigate residential, commercial, and industrial sites to determine the origin and cause of structural failures, damages or defects. (due to building system failures, water intrusions, roof damage, settlement damage, construction defects and building system failures, to include building envelope, roof, walls and glazing)
Analyze damages to structures that have been threatened by catastrophes.
Prepare detailed written reports in a timely manner, in clear and concise terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
Must be willing and able to provide expert testimony and/or depositions on an as needed basis for projects in which they are assigned.
Must be well organized with the ability to deliver fast and accurate turnaround times. Must be able to coordinate multiple projects and periods of high stress, especially during times of peak business demand.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and additional hours during periods of peak business demand, and back:log as deemed necessary by management.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is a plus.
:Minimum of five (5) years of post:academic civil/structural experience.
Applicants should be an active registered Professional Engineer (PE). Must have or be eligible to obtain the NCEES record in a reasonable amount of time.
Must be willing to go through the process of obtaining additional PE state licensures in accordance with business demand and management discretion. All required fees associated with obtaining additional state licensures will typically be company paid.
Previous expert testimony or deposition experience highly preferred but not required.
Must conduct business in an honest and ethical fashion at all times.
Experience with writing detailed reports is highly preferred.
Must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the companys guidelines.
Must have excellent overall computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be willing to travel and/or work a flexible schedule during periods of peak demand, or as directed by management. The nature of our work requires travel and flexibility in order to meet the needs of our customers.
Must have the ability to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to climb onto multi:story roofs, ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
Must be able to work outdoors in hot, cold, or adverse weather conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver a 32 foot ladder.
