What you’ll be doing...

Job Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility is to ensure GNOSC (Government Network Operations and Security Center) customers receive professional service and prompt response to their needs. You will support the 24x7 Floor Operations / Service Desk function for our managed security service customers – this means initiating and working incident management tickets, responding to trouble calls/emails from customers, and supporting shift leads ensuring proper work flows/assigning trouble tickets to specialists and other employees. As a Senior Security Analyst you provide high quality security incident analytics and event handling (70%) change management (20%) and perform device and health monitoring (10%). The position is full time – eight hours per day supporting a standard day shift 8am-5pm M-F from our Ashburn, Virginia location.

Security incident handling involves investigating issues to determine if there is a real security incident or a false positive, notifying customers as needed, and sending customers standardized emails specifying the steps they need to take to fix the problems. You are often the first to see an issue, or the issue may have been escalated from another team/management. Change management involves processing change requests relating to security devices such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and RSA SecurID servers. Device and health monitoring involves troubleshooting network connectivity problems concerning managed security devices, often time working with Advanced Support Team engineers and/or vendors/partner technology teams on device replacement/reconfig.

As a Senior Security Analyst, you are also responsible for coaching, training, and developing analytics excellence by training the team on:

  • payload and packet analysis
  • Splunk/SIEM usage
  • process development, brown bags
  • Special Projects from Management

What we’re looking for...

You Must Have:

  • 3+ years of experience as a security analyst investigating security incidents and events, packet capture and payload analysis experience
  • Must have, or be elligible to obtain, a government clearance at the secret level

Even Better If You Have:

  • Experience with security tools like Splunk, Cisco ASA, JunOS, Fortinet, Sourcefire, Checkpoint, Tripwire, Bluecoat Proxy
  • Experience dealing with customer service requests and experience operating under service level agreements
  • Active technical certifications in the Security field - CEH, GCIH, CCNP - Security, Security+, etc
  • Additional vendor technology experience a plus
  • Knowledge of ITIL and/or previous work in an ISO operating environment, ITILv3 certification
  • Bachelor's Degree
