BachelorA?s degree in Engineering (Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering) or a related technical field plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience is required; or Masters degree in Engineering or a related technical field plus a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. This position requires an active TS/SCI Security Clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to travel 20:30 of the time. General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for the Chief Engineer in our Undersea Systems Business Area. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting:edge technology that supports some of our nationA?s core defense/intelligence systems and services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high:stakes national security missions. Key ResponsibilitiesThe Undersea Systems (US) Chief Engineer will be on the Business Area VPA?s staff and with that team achieve the overall goals of our customers, while maintaining schedule and cost commitments. The successful candidate will join this team to grow our current extensive range of unmanned vehicles, fixed undersea assets, and Command and Control Systems to meet the challenging demands of this critical fast moving market. The Chief Engineer is responsible for establishing the technical vision and strategy in support of our long range planning; representing that vision to our customer, and devising affordable compliant solutions and plans to implement our business capture strategies while providing oversight and support to our engineering execution teams. The Undersea Systems (US) Chief Engineer will interface with Program Management, Business Development, and Engineering leaders for individual programs and tasks. The role will require technical leadership in the effort to analyze, design, develop and test US Business Area systems and products to ensure the integration of user interface, software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, root cause, cost:benefit and risk analysis; collaborating with systems architects in selecting systems architectures, recommending and planning internal investments (IRAD and Capture activities), and developing long term technology roadmaps in cooperation with customers. The successful Undersea Systems (US) Chief Engineer candidate must have:Experience and technical knowledge in the following areas:Unmanned and fixed undersea assets; Undersea warfare systems;Undersea mission analysis, modelling, test, and operation; andUndersea command control and communication systems.Demonstrated history of leading large, distributed, and multi:disciplinary engineering teamsDemonstrated passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding and system level experience with various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission SystemA?s technologyDemonstrated ability advanced principles of engineering and management to solve problems involving the development of complex technology Demonstrated ability to research and report important shifts in technological landscape and implications to the company Experience in development of technical strategies and teaming strategies across Business Areas Experience as a technical lead on proposals containing significant engineering development and manufacturing contentExperience in full engineering life:cycle to include: concept development, customer engagement and shaping, solution and proposal creation, design, integration, test, verification, validation, logistics, training, sus
