Network Operations Center Technician needed for a contract opportunity with Yohs client located in Herndon, VA.

The Big Picture : Top Skills You Should Possess:
Associates degree in computer technology or a related IT field
Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Network Technician, or Network Analyst working on complex server and networking systems
Working Knowledge of ticketing systems such as Jira, Remedy, Salesforce Service Cloud, etc.
Working knowledge of knowledge base tools such as Atlassian Confluence
Ability to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve complex server and networking problems.
Working knowledge of Linux and Networking.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Possess technical skills and experience to understand incidents typical of a networked server data system, and the underlying problems causing them
Adherence to policies, procedures, and controls especially regarding safety considerations, customer service, outage and change management, information protection
What Youll Be Doing:
This is an opportunity to work in establishing and running a new Network Operations and Customer Service Center (NOC) for a cutting:edge global, satellite:based aircraft surveillance tracking system with international service delivery on a long:term contract. The NOC Technician will operate and monitor complex computing and network systems, respond to and troubleshoot customer and internally reported incidents and service requests, coordinate with multiple partner companies to repair and upgrade the system, and directly manage email and telephone communications from an international client base.
The primary roles of this position are to operate and maintain a global aircraft surveillance tracking system, mitigate and troubleshoot service outages and performance issues, and manage international customer communications.
Perform as the first responder to take appropriate action toward resolving system and network problems as they appear or as they are reported by customers or other stakeholders.
Detect, analyze, and resolve network switching and transmission system problems while minimizing impact on service delivery.
Determine additional required resources based on the severity or type of event.
Issue and manage service interruption reports to international customers.
Remotely support installation of various computer hardware and software, and bringing systems on:line.
Monitor data network devices and overall network health and performance.
Responsible for incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution per policies and procedures.
Implement technical solutions to mitigate outages or performance issues.
Participate in joint working groups and boards related to process improvement and change authorization.
Communicate with end users and customers to manage service changes and repairs.
Collaborate with engineering, network operations, security operations, and system administrators to ensure operational quality and integrity.
Support overall system testing.
This position will require shift work.
