This role ensures the development and education of the Sushi team, which will in turn assist with bottom line profitability of the department and ensure that we are serving only the best products.

On the job training is provided, no prior Sushi experience required

    Product (What We Do)
  • Sustain fresh product levels throughout the day, through ordering and controlling inventory; present eye-appealing foods to showcase quality to help drive sales
  • Ensure products are prepared with a consistent, high quality outcome by following Wegmans core recipes & cooking techniques, and educating team members on these practices
  • Ensure all employees are properly handling products, using equipment and taking accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines

Results (What We Measure)
  • Oversee the entire operations of the Sushi department including ordering with Simplification practices in mind, scheduling and managing payroll
  • Possess a complete understanding of the Sushi department and accurately forecasting department and customer needs when planning daily production lists
  • Communicate with Prepared Foods Management team, Divisional Sushi Trainer, and members of culinary team to set and achieve goals and development plans for the department and the Sushi Team

Work Environment
  • Work includes standing, walking for prolonged periods of time without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and occasional heavy lifting, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including temperature changes. The average weight range of items lifted is 5-10 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction).
